Responsibilities
and Duties
·
Adjust, repair, replace, and/or
service any system or part on vehicles as needed.
·
Verifies vehicle performance by
conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
·
Complies with federal and state
vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control
standards.
·
Maintains vehicle records by
annotating services and repairs.
·
Keeps shop equipment operating
by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining
supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
·
AC system service as needed.
·
Maintain a clean shop and work
area.
·
Complete all paperwork required
for jobs.
·
Maintains diesel equipment
operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements;
correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping
records.
·
Other duties as directed by the Maintenance
Manager or other member of management.
Qualifications
·
Must be able to climb, balance,
reach, push, pull, grip, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, stoop, crawl, stand, sit
and walk when necessary to carry out job duties.
·
Work requiring exertion of force
over 100 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. frequently, and over 20 lbs.
constantly to use necessary tools and move objects.
·
Must be able to lift, carry,
push, pull, and/or move objects safely, usually no more than 75 lbs., but
occasionally with weights over 100 lbs.
·
Must be at least 21 years of
age.
·
Possess own tools.
·
Minimum of five (5) years of
experience in medium/heavy fleet mechanic repair experience.
·
Technical knowledge of major
vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
·
Diagnostic, Electrical, Air
Brake systems and AC skills are a must.
·
Previous fleet experience and
are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
·
Prefer ASE Certification as a
Master Truck Technician and possess EPA certification 608,609.
·
Ability to use good judgment and
decision-making skills.
·
Must pass DOT pre-employment
physical, drug screen, and background check.
·
Valid NC State license and clean
driving record.
·
Must possess or be willing to
acquire a class ‘B’ CDL
